Okay, I admit it… I’m a coffee junkie. I like really GOOD coffee, and a STRONG good coffee. But how much coffee is TOO much of a good thing?
One of the favourite clichés in my family is “everything in moderation, even moderation sometimes”. In the past, it would have been said that coffee is BAD for you… but even the Mayo Clinic agrees with the “everything in moderation” motto and that some coffee, a moderate amount, isn’t as harmful as once was thought.
I like a good strong coffee to start my day – I like two espresso shots in my weekday hit. And I’ll have a couple of mugs on the weekend. And I can imagine many other writers may well tell you the same thing, particularly when writing. Occasionally, probably once every couple of months, I’ll have a secret hit of hazelnut syrup.
Cruising the web for, well, interesting stuff that would be interesting to other writers, the world’s most expensive cup of Starbucks coffee… and it almost turned me right off coffee!
Coming in at US $43.70 (about AU$45.83), it has “48 espresso shots, a scoop of protein powder, soy milk, and enough strawberry/vanilla bean/caramel high-fructose corn syrup to feed a small stable of ponies”.
48 espresso shots?!?!?! That’s about a month’s worth of coffee for me! And the sugar high? Even I shudder at the thought!
I love coffee… but not THAT much coffee.
