I’m two-thirds through second edits: tightening the stakes, deepening character arcs, and working toward a May 2026 release.

I previously wrote about how sometimes spreadsheet failures can into new ideas in the middle of the night. I’d come up with a new book idea in the middle of the night when I realised I’d miscalculated a count in a spreadsheet and started watching a podcast. That idea became Breaking the Broadcast.

I’m excited to share a quick progress update. I’m about two-thirds of the way through my second round of edits, and this pass is all about tightening the stakes for investigative journalist Jack Alonso and deepening Bridget D’Angelo’s journey as her family’s immigrant history collides with a rising literary career.

It’s new territory for my writing: a contemporary thriller with a romance angle that leans into courage, legacy, and the power of speaking out—echoing the tagline: “Breaking News or Breaking Free? When the media bows, one journalist stands.”

Next up: a developmental edit to lock structure and voice before production begins. I’m hoping to have Breaking the Broadcast ready for release on 3 May 2026, which is World Press Freedom Day.
